As a result I contacted Alan as he was highly recommended to me. I worked with Alan 3 times a week for 4 weeks. The core strength training was of high intensity and was really tough. Each session was different and I really enjoyed it. After the 4 weeks I feel the training definitely helped to improve my balance, strength and running power. My season has got off to a flyer and I am now back in the 1st team. I would recommend Alan to anyone seeking a Glasgow based professional personal trainer.”</p>

I am now back in the team and we have got off to a great start in the league. I would definitely work with Alan again and would recommend him to anyone. From setting the speed in a percentage basis, you know exactly how hard a pace to work at.(whatever your ability) 50% 75% 100% Flat out for each piece of music. Also the clear structure and description of placing of the hands top, middle, back on the bars is a big plus as you are working so hard that your coordination can lapse. People who lead an active life are less likely to get ill and more likely to live longer. Exercise not only makes you physically fitter, it also improves your mental health and general sense of wellbeing.<br />
It’s important that physical activity is a part of life for children, adults and older people. It doesn’t have to be a vigorous workout – you can find ways to fit being active into your daily routine, such as walking. If you have never done exercise or haven’t done any for a while, it’s easy to get started. Physical activity is key for maintaining a healthy body weight and it’s even beneficial during pregnancy. However, make sure you take steps to stay injury free and remember that nutrition and hydration also play an important role. Eating the correct nutrients provides the fuel you need to exercise and drinking fluids helps to prevent dehydration.</p>
<p>Often people under eat which reduces their metabolic rate and lowers the rate at which their body burns fat. This means that by drastically reducing your calorie intake you could be increasing your body fat mass. The immediate decrease in weight is often the result of losing lean muscle tissue and dehydration. Losing weight isn’t about eating less. It&#8217;s important to realise that losing weight and the loss of fat are two different things. Eating healthily isn’t a quick fix, it&#8217;s learning to make healthy choices for life. </p>

<p>You recognise that you want to change, whether you want to lose weight, improve your overall fitness or increase your energy levels. Body for Life helps you focus this into clear goals that will help motivate you through the next 12 weeks.</p>
<h3>Change your eating habits</h3>
<p>Research has shown that for active people, eating small, frequent meals helps accelerate their metabolism and burn fat. Each meal should contain a balanced portion of lean protein and complex carbohydrates. This will help fuel your exercise regime and maintain energy levels.</p>
<p>Aim for 6 small meals a day.</p>
<p>Whenever possible plan our meals to ensure you are making the right nutritional choices.</p>
<p>Aim for 40/30/30 ratio of protein/carbohydrate/fat each meal.</p>
<p>Space your meals so you are eating about every 3 hours</p>
<p>If time is tight, don&#8217;t just grab the nearest high fat or sugary snack to satisfy hunger: instead opt for a balanced meal replacement or drink.</p>
<p>Choose appropriate portion sizes: as a general rule the protein portion of your meal should be approximately the size of your flat palm (excluding fingers), the carbohydrate portion the size of your clenched fist.</p>
<p>Incorporate plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet.</p>
<p>Drink plenty of water. It&#8217;s important to stay hydrated when your following an exercise program.</p>
<p>Follow this careful nutrition plan 6 days a week and take a day off on the 7th &#8211; eat pretty much what you want!</p>
